I’m convinced that most real estate agents don’t have a clue as to what niche they should be working within.
Too many agents are working from commission check to commission check because they have yet to turn their business into an enterprise.
I’ve been interviewing agents and providing free 30 minute consultations over the past year and the information I’m gathering is alarming. Almost as alarming as 46% of all agents not closing one real estate transaction last year. Yes! You read that correctly. So if this is the case, I have to ask “WHAT ARE AGENTS DOING?”
If you are considering getting into this field the worst thing you can do is NOT know what area of the business you want to get into. There is more to real estate than showing a house and filling out paperwork. To be successful in this business, you need to know what skill sets you have that will easily apply into the real estate industry. Bottom line, you need a NICHE. And YOU need to pick it. Allowing anyone, including your broker, to choose the area that you will work in can be detrimental to your business.
Here are a few things your company may not tell you:
- You can probably make more money utilizing a niche that doesn’t include listing or selling someone else’s home
- You can have your license held with more than one brokerage
- You should be investing in real estate
So when the time is right to get into the business and you’re ready to take it seriously, get NICHED!
